MobVoi TicNote

The Mobvoi TicNote emerges as a functional tool for professionals who rely heavily on accurate audio documentation, functioning as an AI voice recorder that can record, transcribe, translate, and summarize conversations. For journalists, the ability to capture information reliably is paramount, and this device accommodates various interview settings by offering both a dedicated phone call recording mode and an environmental audio recording mode. Its physical design is particularly well-suited for extensive fieldwork, featuring a lightweight 29-gram aluminum body, 64 GB of internal storage, and a 25 hours of battery life.

Furthermore, the system includes noise-cancelled conversation recording, which ensures that reporters can capture clear, uninterrupted audio even in bustling, unpredictable environments like press conferences or crowded public events. An integrated OLED display keeps the user informed of critical metrics such as battery level, recording status, and syncing progress, minimizing technical distractions while on assignment.

The accompanying software capabilities are designed to significantly streamline the editorial workflow by providing real-time transcription that instantly converts live speech into accurate, highly searchable text. Journalists covering international stories or working with foreign sources will find substantial value in the real-time translation feature, which currently supports 101 languages. To help maintain the visual and situational context of an interview or event, reporters can snap photos of their surroundings—such as slides or blackboards—and insert inline typed notes directly into the live transcript.

When working on deep, complex investigations that involve compiling data from multiple interviews, the platform’s cross-file tasking allows users to ask the AI questions across several different audio files simultaneously. The software also includes specialized tools for digital media creators, such as the ability to turn raw voice notes into shareable podcasts. Recognizing the critical importance of source protection and confidentiality in journalism, the manufacturer guarantees that all data is securely stored in a U.S.-based cloud infrastructure and is never used to train AI models without the user’s explicit permission.

In terms of operational costs, users are provided with three months of Pro membership for free upon purchasing the hardware. Once this trial period concludes, journalists can choose from several subscription tiers depending on their typical monthly audio volume. The Free tier costs $0 per month and provides a baseline of 600 transcription minutes, though it restricts web recordings to a maximum duration of 30 minutes each.

For reporters who conduct longer interviews, the Pro tier is priced at $12.99 per month or $299 per year, expanding the monthly allowance to 2,100 transcription minutes and allowing up to three hours per individual web recording. Finally, newsrooms or heavy individual users can opt for the Business tier at $29.99 per month or $299 per year, which delivers a robust 6,600 transcription minutes per month and allows for extended web recordings of up to eight hours in length.
